Each ZOLPPI L capsule contains rabeprazole sodium (EG) 20mg and levosulpiride (SR) 75mg
ZOLPPI L is the combination of two powerful anti-ulcerants which address various complications associated with the acid-reflux issues and Helicobacter pylori infections.
Rabeprazole, which is a substituted benzimidazole, works as a proton pump inhibitor (PPI). Rabeprazole is activated in the acidic environment only. Rabeprazole gets absorbed by the parietal cells. After the activation, this drug binds to the H+/ K+ ATPase system present on the parietal cells and blocks the inward movement of H+ ions into the stomach and prevents the last step of acid production.
Levosulpiride possesses strong gastrointestinal motility properties due to which it is used as a digestive aid. Levosulpiride specifically blocks D2 receptors of dopamine both at central and peripheral levels. This drug does not have any effect on acetylcholine, serotonin, histamine, and GABA receptors.
