Vomidis Injection

Vomidis Injection

Ondansetron hydrochloride 2mg

Ondansetron is one of the highly effective and extremely safe anti-emetic drugs and is largely used during the chemotherapies to treat nausea and vomiting. Ondansetron belongs to the class of 5-HT3 receptor antagonists and is of synthetic origin. This drug works both at central and peripheral levels.

Nausea and vomiting are common problems during chemo- and radiation therapies and these happen because of different drug combinations, prior health conditions, high doses of the drugs, etc. When the body comes in contact with foreign chemicals or irritants, serotonin, a neurotransmitter, triggers nausea in order to expel the chemicals from the body.

5-HT receptors are found in the chemoreceptor trigger zone of the CNS and at the vagal nerve terminals in the intestine of the PNS. Ondansetron specifically acts by blocking these receptors and preventing the vomiting reflux.

  • Cancer Chemotherapy-induced emesis
  • Prevention of postoperative nausea and vomiting
