Noll OZ Tablet

Each NOLL OZ tablet contains ofloxacin 200mg & ornidazole 500mg.

NOLL OZ is the anti-bacterial and anti-protozoal combination of ofloxacin and ornidazole. This combination is highly effective against amoebiasis, amoebic dysentery, sexually transmitted diseases and respiratory tract infections.

Ofloxacin works by blocking the cell division in the bacterial cells. This drug belongs to the class of fluoroquinolones. Ofloxacin acts on the enzymes, DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, which are associated with DNA unwinding and DNA supercoiling processes during the DNA replication. Ofloxacin hampers the functions of these enzymes and arrests the cell division process in the bacterial cells, which will eventually lead to their death.

Ornidazole is a broad spectrum antibacterial and antiprotozoal agent; it is a nitroimidazole derivative. Once it enters the bacterial cells by diffusion, the redox proteins present there will reduce the nitro group of the drug and form intermediate metabolites. These intracellular intermediate metabolites damage the bacterial DNA and other biomolecules present in the bacterial cells and cause their death. Ornidazole is also observed to cause DNA helix destabilization and strand breakage, which will also lead to the death of the bacterial cells and prevent their future growth.
