Each LANZOVA 30 capsule contains lansoprazole 30mg.
LANZOVA 30 is the brand name for Lansoprazole, which is a substituted benzimidazole that works by inhibiting the gastric acid secretion. Lansoprazole is an acid proton-pump inhibitor, just like omeprazole. This drug is largely used to treat and heal duodenal or gastric ulcers. Lansoprazole belongs to the class of antisecretory compounds and does not have much side effects.
Lansoprazole’s mechanism of action involves selective inhibition of the H+/K+- ATPase enzyme system that is present on the optical surface of the parietal cells in the stomach. This inhibition prevents the influx of the H+ ions into the stomach, which is one of the key components of gastric acid or the stomach acid. Thereby, the production of the stomach acid is decreased, which in turn allows the stomach and esophagus to heal from the damages caused by the ulcers or H.pylori infections. Lansoprazole does not exhibit properties like anticholinergic-activity and histamine H2-receptor antagonism. This drug is largely metabolized in the hepatic system.
