Klotim B
Beclomethasone Dipropionate, Neomycin Sulphate& Clotrimazole Cream

Each 10g of KLOTIM B cream contains clotrimazole 1% w/w, beclomethasone 0.025% w/w and neomycin 0.5% w/w.

KLOTIM B is a triple-drug topical combination with strong anti-fungal, anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. This topical formulation effectively treats various fungal and bacterial infections.

Clotrimazole is an imidazole derivative that works by altering the permeability of the cell wall in the fungal cells. Like other imidazoles, clotrimazole works by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, which is the key component of the fungal cell wall. This drug binds to 14-a demethylase, a cytochrome P-450 enzyme, which converts lanosterol to ergosterol. Clotrimazole, in combination with beclomethasone and neomycin, will effectively treat fungal infections like candidiasis and other cutaneous tinea infections. Clotrimazole prevents the growth and cell division in fungi cells.

Beclomethasone is a synthetic anti-inflammatory corticosteroid, whose mechanism of action involves the inhibition of prostaglandins and leukotrienes synthesis by interacting with the phospholipase A2 inhibitory proteins and lipocortins. With its anti-inflammatory and vasoconstrictive properties, beclomethasone suppresses the inflammation and its symptoms.

Neomycin belongs to the class of aminoglycoside antibiotics. Neomycin possesses broad-spectrum activity against aerobic Gram –ve and Gram +ve bacteria. This antibiotic drug acts by irreversibly binding to the 30S-subunit proteins and 16S rRNA in bacteria, which leads to hampered initiation complex and misreading of the mRNA strand. Incorrectly read mRNA will lead to the synthesis of non-functional and toxic peptides, which will eventually kill the bacterial cells.
