Each 5mL of HOGINZ syrup contains cyproheptadine anhydrous 2mg, tricholine citrate 275mg and sorbitol 3.57mg.

HOGINZ is an appetite stimulant formulation of cyproheptadine and tricholine citrate. This medicine aids protein synthesis, weight gain and also exhibits hepatoprotective activities. HOGINZ is also observed to reduce the cholesterol levels, soothe the allergic symptoms and relieve constipation.

Cyproheptadine works by decreasing the serotonin effect in the appetite-regulating hypothalamus and stimulates the appetite. This drug also possesses antihistamine activity; it acts as a selective antagonist of HA receptors and relieves allergic symptoms like running nose and watery eyes.

Tricholine citrate works as a bile acid binding agent and aids in bile acid elimination from the body. Tricholine citrate is useful in treating liver disorders like fatty liver and liver cirrhosis. This drug also reduces the levels of cholesterol in the blood. Tricholine citrate possesses strong anti-inflammatory properties. It reduces the levels of pro-inflammatory and inflammatory mediators of leukotriene pathway.

Sorbitol, which is the syrup base of this formulation, serves as an osmotic laxative and eases occasional constipation.
