Dolet Injection

Dolet Injection

Diclofenac sodium 75mg

Diclofenac belongs to the category of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and is used to treat inflammation and its symptoms. Diclofenac also exhibits antipyretic, analgesic and bacteriostatic activity. This drug works by blocking the activity of the biochemical components that are responsible for causing pain, edema, erythema and high temperature.

Diclofenac sodium is a phenylacetic acid derivative, which works by inhibiting the enzyme cyclooxygenase (COX) or prostaglandin-endoperoxide synthase-2(PGES-2). This enzyme is responsible for the prostaglandin synthesis and other chemicals that cause inflammation and fever. Prostaglandin is one of the key mediators of inflammation and inhibiting its synthesis will bring down its levels in the peripheral tissue and thereby reduce the inflammation. Diclofenac is exclusively metabolized in the liver.
