Candisyn 100

Each capsule of CANDISYN 100 contains itraconazole 100mg.

Itraconazole is an antifungal agent that works by inhibiting the cell wall synthesis in fungi. Itraconazole effectively acts against histoplasmosis, cryptococcal meningitis blastomycosis & aspergillosis.

Itraconazole belongs to the group of imidazoles or triazoles. This drug selectively inhibits the activity of the enzyme, cytochrome P450 14 a-demethylase, which is involved in the conversion of lanosterol to ergosterol. Ergosterol is the key component of the fungal cell wall, and the inhibition of its synthesis leads increased cellular permeability and cell disruption, eventually. Other mechanisms by which itraconazole inhibit the fungal growth include inhibition of endogenous respiration, purine uptake inhibition and impaired phospholipids’ biosynthesis.
