Rabeprazole 20 mg

Composition:

Each ZOLPPI 20 tablet contains rabeprazole 20mg.

Description:

ZOLPPI 20 is the brand name for the powerful anti-ulcerant agent, rabeprazole. This drug works by suppressing the production of gastric acid in the stomach and therefore, rabeprazole is extremely useful in treating conditions, wherein there is uncontrollable acid production such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and other acid reflux issues.

Rabeprazole belongs to the class of substituted benzimidazoles and works exactly like other proton pump inhibitors (PPIs). Once administered, rabeprazole is absorbed by the parietal cells; it needs an acidic environment to get activated. Once activated, this drug binds to the H+/ K+ ATPase system present on the parietal cells and prevents the inward movement of H+ ions into the stomach and inhibits the gastric acid production.
