DESCRIPTION

The active ingredient in ZOLPPI-20 is Rabeprazole, a rapid acting proton pump inhibitor (PPI). Rabeprazole is a substituted benzimidazole which suppresses gastric acid secretion by inhibiting the gastric H+/ K+ ATPase at the secretory surface of the gastric parietal cell. This enzyme is regarded as the acid (proton) pump within the parietal cell. Rabeprazole blocks the final step of gastric acid secretion.

INDICATIONS

Indicated for heartburn, GERD, gastric ulcer, duodenal ulcer, prevention or treatment of NSAIDs-induced ulcer, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Rabeprazole is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Rabeprazole, other PPIs or to any component of the formulation.

ADVERSE EFFECTS

Although tolerance level of Rabeprazole is high enough, but sometimes it may cause headache, diarrhea, abdominal pain, vomiting, constipation, dry mouth, increased or decreased appetite, muscle pain, drowsiness, dizziness.

PREGNANCY & LACTATON

ZOLPPI-20 should be used during pregnancy, only if clearly needed. In lactating mothers, a decision should be made whether to discontinue nursing or to discontinue the drug, taking into account the benefit of the drug to the mother.
