Each SPORIBEST-DT 250 dispersible tablet contains cephalexin 250mg.
SPORIBEST-DT 250 is the brand name for beta-lactam antibiotic, cephalexin that belongs to the class of first-generation cephalosporins. Cephalexin is active against most of the Gram +ve bacteria and some Gram-ve bacteria.
Cephalexin acts on penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) 1A, 2B, 1b, 2a and 3- the members of the transpeptidase enzyme subgroup. Cephalexin binds to the penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) and blocks the transpeptidation step of peptidoglycan synthesis. This increases the permeability of the cell wall and leads to the leakage of the cell contents, which eventually causes the death of the bacterial cells.
