Montelukast is a selective and orally active leukotriene receptor antagonist that inhibits the cysteinyl leukotriene CysLT1 receptor. Cysteinyl leukotrienes and leukotriene receptor occupation have been correlated with the pathophysiology of asthma ( such as, airway edema, smooth muscle contraction and altered cellular activity associated with the inflammatory process, which contribute to the signs and symptoms of asthma).
Levocetirizine is used for all forms of skin allergy or atopic dermatitis,chronic idiopathic urticaria.

Montelukast + Levocetirizine can cause dizziness. Do not drive vehicles or operate heavy machineries that need alertness.

Montelukast and levocetirizine are generally well tolerated.The most commonly reported adverse events are headache,asthma and upper respiratory tract infections.
There are no adequate and well controlled studies of either montelukast or levocetirizine in pregnant women. Hence this combination should not be used during pregnancy. Since levocetirizine is excreted in breast-milk the combination is not recommended during lactation.
