Pancreatin is a pancreatic enzyme helps in digestion of fatty food. Pancreatin is made up of the pancreatic enzymes trypsin, amylase, and lipase. Trypsin hydrolyses proteins to oligopeptides, amylase hydrolyses starches to oligosaccharides and the disaccharide maltose and lipase hydrolyzes triglycerides to fatty acids and glycerols. Pancreatin is an effective enzyme for replacing missing pancreatic enzymes used in several essential body processes. Activated Dimethicone is a mixture of polydimethylsiloxanes and silicon dioxide, is an antifoaming agent and carminative.

Activated Dimethicone relieves flatulence by dispensing and preventing formation of mucus surrounding gas pockets in the gastro-intestinal tract. It lowers the surface tension of the gas bubbles and bringing together all the small bubbles of gas (coalesce) to form a large bubble, which is then expelled. Thus the gas is freed by belching or passing flatus. Antiflatulents are added to an antacid gum coating to be effective antigas materials and eliminate trapped gas. The most common antigas material is Dimethicone and when mixed with silicone dioxide becomes Simethicone. Simethicone is also referred to as activated Dimethicone. is the most common antigas material and may be the only drug approved antiflatulent. As the antacid chewing tablet is chewed, the active antacid and antiflatulent in the gum coating is released into the saliva and ingested to give relief from gastrointestinal disturbances in the gastro-intestinal tract. Besides its antigas effect, Simethicone used in a gum coating can also improve the smoothness of the coating. Activated Dimethicone helps to relieve pain and bloating caused by trapped wind.
Absorption: It is well absorbed orally.
Distribution: Through the portal circulation, it reaches liver and is distributed to the body fluids. Metabolism starts in the small intestine as it is converted to polypeptides and then to amino acids and finally into urea and excreted in urine and faeces.
Abdominal distention due to cumulative gas and foam, Digestive disturbances, Flatulence, in pancreatic insufficiency, Hepatic and biliary dysfunction. For patients before gastro intestinal radiological examination, Splenic-flexure syndrome, Cystic fibrosis, Chronic pancreatitis, Pancreatic tumours or pancreateostomy & Malabsorption due to insufficient digestion.
Dosage based on the condition as directed by the physician
Pancreatin is LIKELY SAFE when taken by mouth by people with pancreas problems who cannot digest food properly. Pancreatin can cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, mouth and skin irritation, and allergic reactions. High doses can cause problems such as high blood levels of a substance called uric acid, as well as colon damage.
Hypersensitivity to Pankreometh Tablet is a contraindication. In addition, Pankreometh Tablet should not be taken if you have the following conditions:Gastrectomy,Hypersensitivity, Pancreatectomy
Do not take more than prescribed dose. Taking more medication will not improve your symptoms; rather they may cause poisoning or serious side-effects. If you suspect that you or anyone else who may have overdosed of Pankreometh Tablet
There isn’t enough information about the safety of using pancreatin during pregnancy and breast-feeding. It’s best to avoid use unless you have been diagnosed with pancreas problems that make use of pancreatin essential.
