OSFOL-XT Tablets

COMPOSITION

  • Methylcobalmine - 1.5 mg
  • L-Methylfolate - 1 mg
  • Pyridoxal-5-Phosphate - 0.5 mg

DESCRIPTION

Osfol-XT contains L-Methylfolate, a natural, active form of folic acid, Methycobalmine, water soluble form of Vitamin B12, and Pyridoxal-5-Phosphate, active form of vitamin B6.

Methylcobalmine is the neurologically active form of vitamin B12 and occurs as a water-soluble vitamin in the body. It is a cofactor in the enzyme methionine synthase, which functions to transfer methyl groups for the regeneration of methionine from homocysteine. In anaemia, it increases erythrocyte production by promoting nucleic acid synthesis in the bone marrow and by promoting maturation and division of erythrocytes.

L-Methylfolate, unlike regular folic acid, it does not require enzymatic conversion to L-methylfolate in the body. By providing L-methylfolate directly, this form of folic acid may have benefits for those who do not produce enough L-methylfolate in response to folic acid supplementation. For those who take proper doses of folic acid, vitamins B12 and B6, and TMG (trimethylglycine), but still suffer from higher-than-optimal homocysteine, L-Methylfolate may be the solution.

Pyridoxal-5-phosphate is used by many enzymes. It is readily absorbed by the intestine by a process which is preceded by dephosphorylation to form pyridoxal. It helps metabolize homocysteine to cysteine. Elevated serum levels of homocysteine (hyperhomocysteinemia) increase the risk of diabetic complications, such as peripheral neuropathy and the related complaints of numbness, tingling, and burning sensations and nonhealing foot ulcers.
