Kojic acid acts as a microphage activator. It is a safe alternative to hydroquinone for mild to moderate facial dyscromia.Kojic acid is a chelation agent produced by several species of fungi, especially Aspergillus oryzae, which has the Japanese common name koji. Kojic acid is a by-product in the fermentation process of malting rice, for use in the manufacturing of sake, the Japanese rice wine. It is a mild inhibitor of the formation of pigment in plant and animal tissues, and is used in food and cosmetics to preserve or change colors of substances.

Glycolic acid is a alpha hydorxy acid or known as AHA's. Glycolic acid in MEDIS-SLC provides skin lightening effect by promoting gentle exfoliation. It safely removes the outer layer of dead skin cells on your skin, bringing fresh, new skin to the surface. Octylmethoxycinnamate is a sun blocking agent that absorbs ultraviolet radiation in UVB range. UVB radiation affects the epidermal layer of the skin, because it has ability to penetrate up to the stratum basale and may induce damage on the DNA and surpasses the immune response of the skin. When exposed to sunlight octylmethoxycinnamate is converted into a less UV absorbent form and prevent from damages from the ultraviolet radiations.

LIQUORICE plant serves many skin care benefits. The active ingredient that is accountable for the skinís whitening aspect of the plant is known as glabridin. Glabridin inhibits pigmentation by preventing tyrosinase activation.
