KETOSH soap contains ketoconazole 1% and glycerin 1%.
KETOSH is the brand name for the topical antifungal formulation of ketoconazole and glycerin. Ketoconazole is a synthetic drug that belongs to the class of imidazoles. It effectively treats the skin disorders that are caused by fungi.
Ketoconazole works by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, which is the major constituent of the fungal cell wall. Ketoconazole blocks the activity of the enzyme, cytochrome P450 14a-demethylase (CYP51A1), which synthesizes ergosterol from lanosterol. When the ergosterol synthesis is arrested, there is increase in the permeability of the fungal cell walls, which leads to the leakage of cellular contents. This eventually causes the death of the fungal cells.
Glycerin intensely moisturizes the skin and helps the infections heal at a faster rate. It is also helpful in controlling the inflammation. The deep-cleansing and anti-bacterial properties of glycerin are helpful in reducing the incidences of frequent acne breakouts.
For quick results, use KETOSH soap two times a day or as directed by the dermatologist.
Avoid contact with eyes. In the case of contact, rinse your eyes thoroughly with water. In the case of skin irritation, stop using this product and consult your doctor.
Adverse effects of this soap are skin redness, swelling, discoloration of the fingernails and toenails and irritation.
KETOSH is available as a 75g bar soap.
