Forppi DSR

Each tablet contains

  • Pantoprazole 40 mg
  • Domperidone 30mg DSR

FORPPI-DSR is a combination of Pantoprazole 40mg and Domperidone 30mg.Pantoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor that decreases the amount of acid produced in the stomach. It suppresses the final step in gastric acid production by covalently binding to the enzyme system at the secretory surface of the gastric parietal cell. This effect leads to inhibition of both basal and stimulated gastric acid secretion, irrespective of the stimulus. The binding to the enzyme system results in duration of antisecretory effect that persists longer than 24 hours. . Pantoprazole, being a weak base, is highly ionized at low pH and readily accumulated in the highly acidic canalicular lumen of the stimulated parietal cell in the stomach. In this acidic environment, it is protonated and rapidly converted to a cationic cyclic sulphonamide. The sulphonamide binds covalently to cysteine residues on the luminal (acidic) surface of H+ / K+-ATPase to form a mixed disulphide; thus causing irreversible inhibition of the gastric proton pump. This inhibition of the gastric proton pump or H+ / K+-ATPase (which represents the final step in the secretory process), suppresses gastric acid secretion.

Domperidone is a peripheral dopamine antagonist, which regulates the motility of gastric and small intestinal smooth muscle. Antiemetic activity is due to the blockade of dopamine receptors in the chemoreceptor trigger zone.Domperidone, a benzimidazole derivative (structurally related to the butyrophenones), acts by selectively antagonizing the peripheral dopaminergic D2 receptors in the gastrointestinal (G.I.) wall, thereby enhancing gastrointestinal peristalsis and motility and increasing Lower Esophageal Sphincter (LES) tone.

For relief in burping-up stomach juices and gas (regurgitation or reflux) caused by gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) or a hiatal hernia.

To control pain in gallbladder pain (biliary colic) or in inflammation (cholecystitis).

As directed by the physician
