Each ETORIB-P tablet contains etoricoxib 60mg and paracetamol 325mg .
ETORIB-P is the brand name for the anti-inflammatory combination of paracetamol and etoricoxib. This medication effectively treats inflammation and its symptoms and thereby, it is one of the potent combinations for different types of arthritis.
Etoricoxib, which is of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) class, eases the inflammation and pain by interfering with the cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) pathway. Cyclooxygenase-2 enzyme converts arachidonic acid to various inflammatory mediators such as, prostaglandins, interleukins and TNFs. These inflammatory mediators cause pain and swelling at the area of infection. Etoricoxib effectively suppresses the inflammation and the pain associated with the inflammation by reducing the levels of the prostaglandins.
Paracetamol is not an anti-inflammatory agent, but, it is a potent analgesic and antipyretic. It is also said to inhibit the prostaglandin synthesis in the brain. It exhibits the analgesia by increasing the threshold for pain and antipyresis by acting on the hypothalamic heat regulating centre in the brain.
