Dukarox

Composition:

Each tablet of DUKAROX contains roxithromycin 150mg.

Description:

DUKAROX is the brand name for the antibiotic roxithromycin. Roxithromycin belongs to the class of macrolides. This drug, which is of semi-synthetic origin, possesses intracellular bactericidal activity. The antibiotic spectrum of roxithromycin is very much similar to that of erythromycin, only with more efficacy against Gram-ve bacteria.

Roxithromycin works by inhibiting the protein synthesis in bacteria. Like other macrolides, this compound also binds to the 50S subunit of the 70S ribosome in the bacteria and prevents the translocation of the synthesized peptides. When the protein synthesis is inhibited, it eventually prevents the cell growth and leads to the death of the bacterial cell.
