Dobex-TZ Injection

Dobex-TZ Injectionts

Composition:

Ceftriaxone 1000mg and Tazobactam 125mg

Description:

DOBEX-TZ is a combinational antibiotic injection whose key ingredients are ceftriaxone and tazobactam. Ceftriaxone is a broad-spectrum beta-lactam antibiotic and tazobactam is a beta-lactamase inhibitor, whose prime function is to protect ceftriaxone’s antibiotic activity and prevent its degradation.

Ceftriaxone:

Ceftriaxone belongs to the class of third-generation cephalosporin antibiotics, and has high penetration and a longer half-life. Like other beta-lactam antibiotics, ceftriaxone works by inhibiting the cell wall synthesis in bacteria. Ceftriaxone is one of the most stable antibiotics, which is resistant to penicillinases, cephalosporinases and beta-lactamases activity.

Ceftriaxone prevents the peptidoglycan synthesis in the bacterial cell wall. The beta-lactam moiety of this drug binds to transpeptidases, endopeptidases and carboxypeptidases present within the bacterial cell wall, which are associated with cell wall synthesis and cell division. This binding leads to defective cell walls and eventually causes the death of the bacterial cells.

Tazobactam:

Tazobactam is a beta-lactamase inhibitor with a mild antimicrobial activity. Tazobactam prevents ceftriaxone from getting degraded by the beta-lactamase enzyme activity of the bacteria. Tazobactam is a heavily modified penicillin molecule that is combined with sulfone. The beta-lactam ring of tazobactam reacts with beta-lactamase and prevents it from reacting with the beta-lactam ring of ceftriaxone.
