Each tablet of BIOZOLID-600 contains linezolid 600mg and lactic acid bacillus
Linezolid is a synthetic antibiotic that belongs to the new class of antibiotics, oxazolidinones. In vitro studies show its broad-spectrum activity against gram +ve and gram –ve bacteria; both aerobes and anaerobes. Its mode of infection involves inhibition of protein synthesis by binding to the bacterial ribosome.
Linezolid prevents the formation of 70S initiation complex, which is the first step in the bacterial protein synthesis. This drug binds to the 23S subunit of the 50S subunit and arrests the protein translation process. Resistance to other protein synthesis inhibitors has little effect on linezolid activity. This drug exhibits strong bacteriostatic against enterococcus and staphylococcus.
Lactic acid bacillus is also a part of this formulation whose major function is to restore the gut bacteria.
