AZODIS-500 Tablet

Each tablet contains:

  • Azithromycin 500 mg


Azithromycin is an azalide antibiotic, a subclass of macrolide antibiotic. It acts by binding to the 50s ribosomal subunit of susceptible microorganisms and thus interfering with microbial protein synthesis. Azithromycin has been shown to be active against most strains in the following microorganisms, both in vitro and in clinical infections gram-positive microorganisms and gram-negative microorganisms.

Azithromycin is having higher tissue concentration and shorter duration of treatment with just once a day dose .It is highly effective against intracellular pathogens such as mycoplasma,clamydia,legionella and salmonella.


RTI, ENT infections, osteo articular infections, UTI, intra abdominal infections.

Dosage & Administration

As directed by the physician.


The use of azithromycin is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to azithromycin,erythromycin ,any macrolide or ketolide antibiotic.


Fatalities have been reported. Despite initially successful symptomatic treatment of the allergic symptoms, when symptomatic therapy was discontinued, the allergic symptoms recurred soon thereafter in some patients without further azithromycin exposure. These patients required prolonged periods of observation and symptomatic treatment.

If an allergic reaction occurs, the drug should be discontinued and appropriate therapy should be instituted.

Caution should be exercised in patients with abnormal liver function, hepatitis, cholestatic jaundice, hepatic necrosis, and hepatic failure have been reported, some of which have resulted in death

Adverse effects

Adverse effects with Azithromycin are likely to be minor: abdominal pain, rash and headache.

Pregnancy & Lactation

There are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. Therefore AZODIS-500 should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus.

Nursing Mothers: It is not known whether AZODIS-500 is excreted in human milk. Because many drugs are excreted in human milk, caution should be exercised when AZODIS-500 is administered to a nursing woman.
