ALEROUT-10 Tablet

Composition:

Each tablet of ALEROUT-10 contains cetirizine 10mg

Description:

Cetirizine is an antihistamine used to relieve allergic symptoms. Cetirizine belongs to the class of the second generation histamine H1 antagonists. Cetirizine is a metabolite of hydroxyzine, a first generation piperazine antihistamine. Cetirizine works by inhibiting selective peripheral histamine (H1) receptors. This drug does not induce drowsiness or have the anticholinergic side effects like other antihistamines.

Mechanism of Action:

Cetirizine, when administered, strongly competes with histamine to bind to the H1 receptors present on the effector cell surface. This leads to reduced edema, redness and the itching sensation. Cetirizine is the only antihistamine that is known to possess activity against both the histamine mediated early phase of allergic response and late phase response.
